Warm-up Teacher: Good morning, everyone! Students: Good morning! Teacher: Take your seats, please. Could you tell me what’s the date today? Any student: Today is the 10th of October. Teacher: Great! Look at the screen, please. You can see the wheel with some questions. Let’s answer them. (https://wordwall.net/resource/37587364/english/warm-up) Teacher spins the wheel and students answer the questions. This warm-up will help students to activate speaking skills. |

Introduction Teacher opens the presentation (slide 1) and asks students give their thoughts about the theme of the lesson. Students identify the theme themselves. Possible students’ answers: Food Eating Cooking Eating vegetables and meat, etc.
Teacher: So many answers and everyone is right. Today we’re going to talk about food and different types of cooking. |

Presentation Direct Instructions
Teacher: On your desks you can see some tasks. Look at the ex. 1, p. 152 (slide 2). What can you see? Possible students’ answers: Food 3 pictures with food A lot of food on the pictures The names of food Teacher: What should you do? Students: Match the words and pictures. Teacher offers students a pair work. Three students will work together and the rest students will work in pairs. Teacher: Great! You have 5 minutes. Teacher offers students listen (audio 1.2) and check out their answers. Students discuss all the mistakes if any. |

Practice Guided practice
Structured Activity: Teacher offers students another handout they have on their desks (p.6 – slide 3)) ex.1a Students look at some quotes about food and discuss what word or phrase from the list they can complete the gaps. ex. 1b Discuss which quote do they like best with the partner. ex.1d Teacher asks students to repeat some adjectives from exercise after her. Discuss what kind of food do students often use them with?
Semi-structured Activity: Teacher asks students to look at ex.2a. They discuss what are the words and sounds and what part of symbol tells us that a sound is long? Teacher offers students to practice these sounds together. Then students should do the ex.2b, listen and check.
Checks for Understanding: Teacher asks students choose the odd word (all together): 1) squid, beef, fish 2) chocolate, sausage, prawns 3) tuna, cookie, sugar |

Practice Independent practice
Unstructured Activity: (slide 3) ex. 3a Teacher and students discuss the bold words and their definition. Then teacher offers students to do the ex. 3b in pairs. Three students will work together and the rest students will work in pairs. ex. 3c Checking the answers all together. ex. 3d Speaking time. Students ask and answer the questions with a partner. Teacher monitoring and help if it’s necessary. |

Homework: Explain the homework task: Handout - English File Workbook: p. 4, ex. 1 a,d (slide 5 ) Teacher: Look at your homework worksheets. How do you think what should you do in the ex. 1a? Students: Circle the odd word. Teacher: You’re right! And in the 1d you should complete the sentences with a word from the list as in example. Do you have any questions?
Teacher answers the questions if any. Teacher: Thanks for the lesson! Have a nice day! Goodbye! |
