Welcome dear guests. Today we will say about The Great Patriotic War. In this year our country will celebrate 75 years of victory.

The Great Patriotic war began on June 22, 1941. The war lasted 1,418 days. At 12 o’clock on the 22nd of June the Soviet foreign Minister made a radio address to the nation. At 4 o’clock in the morning the Nazi troops attacked our country and bombed the cities: Zhitomir, Kiev, Sevastopol and some other without declaring a war.

Pupil 2

Years pass, centuries change. Human thought is striving higher and further, but our hearts will always ache, remembering those who gave their lives for the Motherland, for all of us.

The Great Patriotic war claimed ten millions of  lives, and the bitterness of  loss touched every family. These historic and terrible years are moving further and further into history. More than one generation has grown up that has not experienced the hot breath of the great battle and knows about it from history lessons, books, films and from those who passed through this war. But the veterans are leaving us, and time is taking its toll. The heroes who have passed all those terrible years are becoming fewer and fewer.

Pupil 3

Courage (1942) by Anna Akhmatova

We know that our fate in the balance is cast
And we are the history makers.
The hour for courage has sounded at last
Our courage shall never forsake us.

We do not fear death where the wild bullets screech,
Nor weep over homes that are gutted,
For we shall preserve you, our own Russian speech,
The glorious language of Russia!
You free and pure utterance we shall convey
To new generations, unshackled you’ll stay
Forever!

Millions of people died during the great Patriotic war.  In our country every family has lost relatives. The tragic events of the Second world war did not pass by our village . Our fellow villagers went to war, among them former graduates of our school. The Motherland appreciated the heroism of our countrymen. Many of them were awarded high government awards, orders and medals. But not everyone was destined to return at home. 124 people left our village to the front. In the village there were women, old people, children, teenagers and all the burden of backbreaking work fell on their shoulders. Everyone had to work every day seven days a week. They took on any job-sowing, caring for animals, milking cows, mowing hay and many other. They didn't complain about the difficulties. The belief in victory gave strength and helped to overcome the difficulties of wartime. Everything was for the front, everything for victory. They spent to the front warm clothes, scarves and mittens were knitted.

Childhood is the most bright and joyful time in a person's life. The childhood of those born from 1928 to 1945 was crossed out by the war. War is a terrible and frightening word. The children of the Great Patriotic War lived and suffered together with the whole country. We did not have a war in Zabaikalye but every family was affected by the ordeal. We are proud of our countrymen and will remember them. It was a terrible wartime childhood especially for those who were captured.

During the great Patriotic War many concentration camps were founded in Germany. The most famous of them are Buchenwald ,Auschwitz , Dachau, Majdanek , Treblinka.

The Nazi concentration camps were intended for the physical destruction of entire peoples, primarily Slavic; total extermination of Jews and Gypsies. To do this, they were equipped with showers, gas chambers, and other means of mass extermination of people, crematoria.

Monuments of the great Patriotic war dedicated to the courage and heroism of Soviet soldiers who fought against the Nazis are installed in many cities of Russia and Europe. From the first day of the war, the heroism of a simple Soviet soldier became a role model. The whole country stood up to protect the Motherland.

Let's remember the most important monuments of the great Patriotic war. The most monumental, majestic and famous memorial complex dedicated to the great Patriotic war is “Mamayev Kurgan”. At the top of the mound stands the main pride of the complex-the sculpture " Motherland calls!". This is a symbol of courage and patriotism of the entire Soviet people. The statue of the Motherland represents the feat of our people and the victory over fascism.

Monument to the "Rear front" in the city of Magnitogorsk. The monument is dedicated to the feat of home front workers.

"Warrior-liberator" is a symbol of the victory of the Soviet people over Nazism.

There is also a monument on the territory of our village to soldiers who died during the great Patriotic war. The monument was erected in 1970 on the territory of the school.

Every year, high school students put the monument in order. One of the traditions for may 9 a solemn rally dedicated to the victory day is held near the monument. Another tradition is to give flowers, usually red carnations, to veterans and to lay wreaths at the war memorial sites. The Victory Day is a spring, so a sea of flowers

Oh, sing mе а song of our soldiers brave,

Of Soviet people who worked night and. day,

А song that we like still more and more,

А song of the Great Patriotic War.

How partisans lived in the forests deep,

And fought day and night without rest or sleep,

How bravely they fought as long before

During the Great Patriotic War.

Oh, sing mе the song that our people sang,

The Victory Song of the Soviet Man,

The song that meant the end of the war,

The end of the Great Patriotic War!
