Сценарий внеклассного мероприятия «Thanksgiving Day & Oseniny»

Цель мероприятия: сформировать у детей интерес к культурам и традициям англоговорящих стран и России посредством изучения особенностей празднования Дня Благодарения в США и Праздника Осенины в России.

Задачи мероприятия: 

I. Образовательная:

  • расширение лингвистического кругозора учащихся.          

II. Развивающие

  • развитие творческих способностей учащихся;
  • формирование готовности к коммуникации;
  • мотивации к изучению английского языка.       

III. Воспитательные:

  • развитие интереса к культуре и традициям других народов.

Заранее среди учащихся  объявлен конкурс “The Best Turkey”, на котором учащиеся делают или рисуют символ Дня Благодарения индейку.

Члены каждой группы заранее готовят атрибутику своей команды (Пилигримы, Индейцы, Ковбойцы).

Оформление

  • Зал украшен гирляндами с тыквами, листьями и индейками. Индейки, сделанные учащимися на конкурс.
  • Жетончики в виде индеек за правильные ответы.
  • В состав жюри входят двое учителей, двое родителей и двое учеников-старшеклассников.
  • Вазочки для жетончиков с эмблемами каждой команды.

  • Повязка на глаза
  • Фрукты для конкурса
  • Дипломы и свидетельства (1. Конкурс “The Best Turkey” 2. Номинация "The best expert of the history of Thanksgiving".
  • Призы за конкурс  “The Best Turkey” – попкорн (3 штуки на поток)
  • Призы командам (pumpkin pie, булочки синнабон тыквенные, пирожки с яблоками)

                                              

Ход мероприятия

Слайд 1

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!

Today we are going to speak about the history and traditions of American holiday Thanksgiving Day.

We offer you to take part in the history of this American holiday. Мы вам предлагаем совершить путешествие в прошлое вместе с пилигримами, к самому началу праздника.  But before our trip we have divided into 3 groups: Indians, Cowboys and Pilgrims.

During our trip you have to do some tasks. After the task you will get this perky turkey. At the end of our competition we’ll count all badges and tell you who the winner is.

Now, let’s begin our travel to the past.

  1. Look at the screen. 1620. The start of our trip.

The first task for you. Choose one member from each team, who can translate well.

(выходят по одному члену команды. Устно переводят тест. За правильный перевод получают жетон.)

Look at the text. Don’t read it, only translate.

GR 1. 1620. Britain. It was the time of King James the First. English people didn’t like him and they called him 'The Foolish King of England'.

GR 2 The life of the British was too difficult. They had a lot of religious problems in England. They wanted to start a new life, and wanted religious freedom.

GR 3: November, 1620, a small ship, the Mayflower, left England. There were 102 people on the board of the ship "Mayflower".

T: There were 102 people on the board of Mayflower. For 66 days the Mayflower was in the waves and storms of the Atlantic Ocean, and at last the people saw land. It was America.

  1. We landed on the 9 of February by the Rock named Plymouth Rock.

People found a good place. There was a good harbour for ships there.

You can see pilgrims on the beach.

There were some fields and forests near it and even a small river. The people began to build a village there.

There were already two streets in this village, and they called it 'New Plymouth'.

Then the Native Americans, the Indians, lived before the Pilgrims arrived. The Indians were very friendly. And they helped the Pilgrims. They taught them to hunt the wild animals. For hunting they used bows and arrows.

Let’s play the game “The Indians hunter”. Who wants to be a hunter?

Choose two members from each team. We haven’t got arrows and a bow. But we have got darts.

There were a lot of fruits and vegetables, such as pumpkin, apple, pear, banana, turnip, cranberry, carrot, beet, kiwi, lemon. And let’s play the game “Guess what it is.”

Task 5: Look at the text. We continue translating the text about the history of Thanksgiving Day. Choose one translator from each group.

GR 1. Autumn, 1621.  The people of New Plymouth wanted to make a holiday dinner. They asked the Indians to this dinner, and the Indians brought some wild turkeys as a present.

GR 2. The turkey was an American bird. Very few people in Europe had ever heard about it, but when they ate it at this dinner they liked it very much.

GR 3. The people of New Plymouth called their holiday 'Thanksgiving Day”. The feast lasted three days.

Game: Pin the feathers.

Now let’s play a very popular game “Pin the feathers on the Turkey!”
(On the blackboard there is a poster with a turkey in it. The turkey doesn’t have a tail.) My assistants will blindfold you one at a time and give you a feather to pin  it on the tail of our turkey.

  1. T: As the years passed, after Pilgrims a lot of people from different countries came to America. There were 13 first British states there. Do you know how many states in America nowadays? 50 states

In 1873, the first President of The United States George Washington, proclaimed the first Thanksgiving Day for all Americans.

Then, after the Civil war, President Abraham Lincoln suggested the last Thursday in November to be the day of thanksgiving.

As you know each holiday has its own symbols. Let’s find the right variant of the symbols of Thanksgiving Day. Choose one text. Read it. Then find the symbol and click. For example: Number 7 ……..

Учащиеся выбирают по очереди одно из объяснений и подбирают соответствующий символ. За правильный ответ – жетон.

THE SYMBOLS OF THE HOLIDAY

THE PILGRIMS – a small group of people who came to America many years ago for religious freedom.

POPCORN – It’s food that was eaten by the native Indians many years ago. Now we eat it  in the movies watching films.

TURKEY – it’s traditional food looks like a big hen.

PUMPKIN –It’s traditional food for Halloween, too.

CRANBERRY JELLY - It’s a traditional favorite dessert for Thanksgiving Day. These berries grow in Surgut, too.

FOOTBALL – it’s is the most popular game on this day. Usually there are several matches on TV in this holiday.

THE HORN OF PLENTY – it’s a familiar Thanksgiving symbol of earth’s bounty щедрость, and reminds us how much of our food comes from the earth.

Look at the flag of America. Nicknames of the flag is The Stars and Stripes. There are 50 stars and thirteen stripes on it.

Every year on the fourth Thursday in November is Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving is a national holiday, so most people don't go to work. People get together with their families and friends to give thanks for the good things in their lives.

Thanksgiving Day is a happy time when families gather together, the sing songs and dance. And in the evening they like to watch football games.

Но в нашей стране тоже есть праздник, похожий на День благодарения. Как он называется?

Правильно. В России тоже издавна отмечают праздник Урожая. Старинное его название – Осенины. Отмечается он, как правило, 21 сентября. Считается, что с 21 сентября наступает конец лету, и осень вступает в свои права.

     В этот день обязательно устраивалась большая трапеза. К праздничному столу готовили кутью из разных круп нового урожая с мёдом.

А какая традиционная еда у нас.

У Американцев тыква, а у нас – яблоки.

У Американцев тыквенный пирог, а у нас каравай.

И как и американцы мы благодарны за многие вещи в этой жизни. Let’s sing the song  “Thankful for ..”

Жюри объявляет итоги конкурса:

  • Грамоты за конкурс «”The Best Turkey”.
  • Вручить грамоту «Лучший знаток английского языка»
  • 1, 2, 3 места командам. (Индейцы, Пилигримы, Охотники, Кобойцы, Фермеры)

Призы: Тыквенный пирог, каравай, пирожки с начинкой. Клюквенный морс.
